Hate Flying? How to Make It Through

If you’re anything like me, then you think flying is fun. However, if you’re anything like my mom, flying is “hell on earth.” If you’re someone that sides with my mom, then I am here to give you advice on how to make it through a flight.

I’ll admit, flying can be scary at times. You just need to know the right things to do to pass the time. If you do these things, you will be so occupied that it will not even dawn on you that you are thousands of miles in the air.

Here are some ideas to pass the time!

Movies:

Depending on how long the flight is will determine how many movies you can watch! Sometimes, the airlines will provide movies on their tiny screens that you can watch. However, my go-to is downloading movies on my laptop to watch later. No wi-fi is needed if the movies are already downloaded before you board the flight. My personal favorites are GreaseHow to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, and Crazy, Stupid, Love. Yes, they are all “girly” movies, but they are funny, fun to watch, and definitely help pass the time!

Music:

If you’re not a movie person, try listening to music! Again, before you board the flight, make sure that you create and download playlists with your favorite songs. Throwbacks are always the best! Music is a nice escape from reality. If you look out the window, you can even pretend that you are in a music video! The fun never ends when you are listening to your favorite tunes.

Coloring:

If you’re not a big technology fan, coloring is always a fun way to pass the time. Before you board the flight, make sure you have a fun coloring book with you that will get your creative juices flowing. Also, don’t forget the colored pencils or markers! Not only is coloring fun, but it also helpful in relieving stress. Stressed to be flying? Color!

Napping:

If all else fails, napping is my go-to! Think about it. Just say you woke up at 4am to make your flight and you’re exhausted. You now have a 5 hour flight ahead of you and you hate flying. Take a nap! You can dream of being on the beach (which is not thousands of miles in the air). Napping is definitely the best stress reliever.

I hope all of these tips and tricks help relieve some of the stress from flying! If you have any other ways to distract yourself, be sure to try those, too! Now go ahead, book that flight.

*P.S.: chew gum! It helps to keep your ears from popping from the altitude changes (You’re welcome).

XOXO,

Have Some Wanderlust
